Audacity

      Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows. Can record live audio through a microphone or mixer, or digitize recordings from cassette tapes, vinyl records, or minidiscs.Can modify files,add or remove parts or effects. With some sound cards, it can also capture streaming audio. Import sound files, edit them, and combine them with other files or new recordings. Export your recordings in several common file formats.

Record,edit and play audio files. Is available for setup in more than 15 languages. Is an audio editor, like JetAudio. You can manage and transform completely audio files.
Options are:
1. File
Allow to open or save projects,import files (Audio,Labels,MIDI), export as WAV,MP3,FLAC or MP2;also,can upload files and view the most recent applications opened with Audacity free software .
2. Edit
Here can cut ,copy,paste,delete,set labeled regions ,select playback position,save and restore audio selections.
3. View
- with zoom,zoom history ,expand or collapse all tracks .
4. Tracks
Permit to add new audio,stereo,label or time track,mix and render,transform from stereo to mono,align or sort tracks,add or edit labels.
5. Generate
Have silent mode , tone and white noise .
6. Effects
Effects are in a variety and you can choose to remove noise ,truncate silence,echo,equalization or amplify.
7. Analyze

Contain information about Audacity and a benchmark option .

You can record sounds and make new audio files. The default extension for projects saved with this program is .aud .You can set the microphone and loudspeakers or use these tools:envelope,draw,time shift or zoom.You can configure the sample format 16-bit,24-bit,32-bit and set rate between 8000 Hz and 96000 Hz.you can hide control ,mixer and device bar when you are working.The program show you the name of the file,the Hz number ,mute or solo mode buttons and volume balance.
You can enable meter or stereo option (you can set meter refresh rate per second). In the bottom bar you can see the position of a specific sound in a music file and you will be able to memorize and find easily if you need later.Allow to use stereo,CD player,line in, video or AUX inputs or output.Benchmark show informations about each editing operation and each block file .This software have a General GNU Public license.
