Description:

MapsTiler is a very handy Windows tool for converting large images for easy viewing and navigation on a pda device or handheld computer. The source can be in gif, tiff, jpg, png or now even in pdf format. The image is tiled in smaller pieces and a set of html files is created to allow the navigation through the pieces. This is specially useful with digital maps, which offer the added benefit that can be color-reduced without losing significant detail, thus making them achieve higher compression ratios. If the set of html files is afterwards converted to a compressed file in Plucker or iSilo format,
