Master Pages are the means to add content to pages which have repeating content like page numbers, chapter names, section heads and the like. Users of other page layout applications might be familiar with the concept of master pages or static page backgrounds. Fundamental to understanding how they work is they are not editable from the normal page canvas. All items except page numbers are static background items.

Adding automatically incrementing page numbers is a two step process, but once mastered, quite simple and reliable. There are two different methods which can be used independently or together. The first is to draw a text frame, click to get into edit mode and then go: Insert > Character > Insert Page Number. This will only add the page number to the current selected page. The second uses Master Pages to enable automatic page numbering.

Within Scribus there are several methods to create, import and edit colors via different methods. Which method to follow,depends on if you need to replicate or import colors from another Scribus document or other third party document like an EPS, SVG or other vector format file. Moreover, Scribus has a well developed tool, the Color Wheel plug-in, which help to guide you selecting complementary colors, as well as visualize colors seen by folks with certain kinds of color-blindness.
